Factors affecting health behavior in terms of national health recommendations among village-healthvolunteers in Satun province
Abstract
This survey research aimed to investigate factors affecting health behavior in terms of national health recommendations among village-health volunteers in Satun province. It was conducted as a cross-sectional study. Questionnaire was used as the instrument on the multi-stage sampled subjects. The samples comprised 360 village-health volunteers. Multiple regression analysis was used in this study. It was found that, among 13 independent variables, the antecedent variables were sex, marital status and social status; and the promoting variables were training and supervision made by the health officers. All five variables could explain 18.1 percent of the health behavior in terms of national health recommendations among village-health volunteers in Satun province that is, the factors that had positive correlation with health behaviors included training (7.0%), sex (4%), social status (4.6%), supervision (1.4%) and marital status (1.1%). Based on the research results, it is that there should be continuous training or learning experiences offered by the health officers, accompanied with supervision by the health officers, as this could urge the village-health volunteers to have more appropriate health behavior.
